Ericsson unveils 5G-Advanced location services
Ericsson is building location directly into 5G standalone networks so operators can offer precise positioning without extra overlays or external sensors. The new 5G-Advanced location services turn positioning into a native network function, targeting both indoor and outdoor use.
The company is pitching this to communications service providers that support location-based services in manufacturing, healthcare, automotive, drones and public safety. By integrating positioning into the 5G core, Ericsson aims to simplify deployment and make it easier for operators to sell higher-accuracy location services across different sectors.
