China Mobile CEO steps down
China Mobile CEO He Biao has resigned after less than two years in the job, the latest move in an ongoing leadership reshuffle at the state-owned operator. The company said in a brief statement that He, who also sat on its sustainability committee, left due to a work reassignment, without giving details or naming a successor.
He took over as CEO in April 2024, replacing Dong Xin, who moved into a government post and later became chair and CEO of rival operator China Unicom in January. At the end of 2025, China Mobile also swapped out its longtime chair Yang Jie, appointing former China Unicom chair Chen Zhongyue to lead the board. China Mobile remains China’s biggest mobile operator with roughly 1 billion connections, ahead of China Telecom’s 440 million and China Unicom’s 346 million.
