BT Group reshuffles leadership as Openreach and BT International enter next phase
BT Group is moving senior executives as it pushes ahead with its fibre rollout in the UK and reshapes its overseas business.
Katie Milligan, currently deputy CEO of Openreach, will take over as CEO, replacing Clive Selley. BT Group chief executive Allison Kirkby called Openreach a critical national asset and said Milligan has been central to its progress, pointing to her industry background and operational track record as the unit continues its nationwide full fibre build.
Selley will move to lead BT International, taking over from Bas Burger, who is leaving after 18 years at the company and nine years on the executive committee. Kirkby credited Selley with delivering a large-scale fibre upgrade at Openreach and said his experience with complex infrastructure and digital change makes him suited to develop BT International as a global telecoms platform. Burger is leaving after setting up BT International as a standalone unit and shaping its strategy outside the UK.
BT Group says the changes are meant to keep Openreach’s fibre programme on track while speeding up the transformation of BT International.
