AT&T builds out ‘connected AI’ strategy for industrial edge
AT&T is pitching a "Connected AI" platform aimed at factories and other industrial sites, tying together its fiber network, 5G, and edge infrastructure to run AI workloads closer to where data is created. The company is working with Nvidia, Microsoft, AWS, and industrial IoT specialist Geoforce to link data centers, edge compute, and on-site equipment so manufacturers can process sensor data, run generative AI models, and manage assets in near real time.
The approach targets smart factory use cases where AI needs fast, reliable connectivity to machines and sensors on the factory floor. AT&T’s role is to provide the underlying connectivity and edge capacity, while partners supply cloud platforms, AI tools, and industrial tracking technology. The result is a packaged offer sold as industrial "connected AI," rather than separate networking, cloud, and IoT pieces.
