AMD, Tata strike deal ahead of India AI summit
AMD is deepening its partnership with Tata Consultancy Services to push more AI data centre capacity into India, aligning with the country’s national AI plans. Working through TCS subsidiary HyperVault AI Data Center Limited, AMD will provide access to its Helios data centre portfolio, targeting up to 200 megawatts of AI infrastructure. The companies plan to co-develop a rack-scale AI infrastructure design and an AI-ready data centre blueprint, and to work with hyperscalers and AI firms to speed up data centre build-outs in the country.
The timing matches a global AI summit in New Delhi, where AMD CEO Lisa Su is due to speak. TCS has already announced ambitions to build 1.2 gigawatts of data centre capacity, while AMD is trying to chip away at Nvidia’s dominance in AI hardware. Arista Networks CEO Jayshree Ullal recently estimated AMD now wins up to a quarter of available AI chip deals, a notable shift in a market once almost entirely controlled by Nvidia.
