‘Agility is money’, says Microsoft – as agents rewrite Vodafone B2B cycle

Source: RCR Wireless NewsMarch 16, 2026

Microsoft says large operators such as Vodafone, AT&T, and Telefónica are rolling out hundreds of AI agents to handle internal processes and sales work, cutting some tasks from weeks to minutes. In one Vodafone business-to-business example, Microsoft claims AI agents now manage parts of the sales and service cycle far faster than human teams, with the goal of making networks and commercial operations more responsive and less manual.

At the same time, Microsoft notes that many telecom providers are slowing down in their use of AI because of three major obstacles. Those issues, which the company did not frame as technical breakthroughs but as practical roadblocks, are holding back wider deployment even as early “frontier” adopters push ahead with automation across their organizations.
