Why Wi‑Fi 7 strengthens Wi‑Fi/5G convergence
Wi‑Fi 7 is built to move Wi‑Fi from a “best‑effort” service to something more predictable, according to Cisco Wireless CTOs. The new standard adds deterministic features that improve reliability, latency and control. That makes Wi‑Fi a stronger partner for 5G, especially for mission‑critical and delay‑sensitive uses that previously leaned more on cellular alone.
These changes matter most indoors, where Wi‑Fi already carries most traffic and 5G coverage can be uneven or costly to extend. As Wi‑Fi 7 makes in‑building wireless more stable and easier to manage, operators and enterprises can treat Wi‑Fi and 5G as a coordinated system rather than separate networks, tightening integration between the two and pushing convergence further.
