Viettel completes Vietnam’s first 5G-A trial
Viettel has completed Vietnam’s first 5G-Advanced (5G-A) trial, reaching peak speeds of 7.3 Gbps by aggregating multiple spectrum bands. The operator says these trial speeds are about six times faster than its current standalone 5G service.
Viettel plans to start rolling out 5G-A commercially in 2026, using the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands it already holds for 5G. The company is positioning 5G-A as a capacity and performance upgrade on top of its existing 5G network, rather than a separate system.
