Viasat introduces next-generation global Ka-band network to support resilient government SATCOM
Viasat is rolling out an upgraded global Ka-band network aimed at government users who rely on satellite links for secure communications. The company is combining capacity from its own Ka-band satellites with the Global Xpress satellite fleet to create a single, unified network.
By tying these systems together, Viasat is trying to give government customers more resilience and coverage, so they can maintain connectivity even if one part of the network is disrupted. The move is positioned as an evolution of its existing SATCOM services rather than a brand-new platform, with the focus on higher reliability for defence and government operations that depend on satellite links in remote or contested areas.
