Urgent rethink of telco-cloud-AI ecosystem required, says TIM
Telecom Italia (TIM) CEO Pietro Labriola is calling for a reset in how operators think about networks, cloud, and artificial intelligence, arguing they now function as one connected system rather than separate technology stacks.
Speaking at MWC, Labriola said new digital applications, especially AI, are changing what networks need to deliver. Capacity and speed alone are no longer enough; future networks must be designed around latency, reliability, and the ability to move computing power closer to users. That means tighter integration between telecom infrastructure and cloud platforms, clearer roles for each layer in the stack, and new commercial models so operators can support AI workloads without turning into pure utility pipes.
