Trump's missive unlikely to derail US broadcast consolidation – Levin
President Donald Trump recently posted that he would prefer a smaller, not larger, broadcast industry, raising questions about whether regulators might move to block major TV deals now under review. But telecom analyst Blair Levin of New Street Research says those comments are unlikely to stop consolidation moves already in motion.
Levin argues that the two proposed mergers facing federal review still have a clear path forward, despite the political noise. He notes that formal decisions rest with regulators applying existing law and policy, not with public remarks from the White House, and sees no strong sign that agencies will change course based on Trump’s post alone.
