The Steam Deck went out of stock in several regions, memory squeeze may be to blame
Valve’s Steam Deck has quietly disappeared from online shelves in several regions, with the US and Canadian Steam stores now listing all three variants as “Out of Stock.” The sold-out status is expected for the discontinued LCD version, which ended production in December, but it now also covers the two current OLED models (512GB and 1TB).
Valve has not issued an explanation. Industry reports point to rising DRAM and NAND flash prices as a likely factor, as memory costs have climbed after chipmakers cut production while demand picked up. That squeeze could make it harder to keep a relatively low‑margin handheld like the Steam Deck in steady supply, at least at current price points. For now, anyone looking to buy one in affected regions has to wait or turn to resellers, while speculation about a possible Steam Deck 2 has been overtaken by simple availability concerns.
