Telecom Italia and Fastweb+Vodafone to Share 5G Networks
Telecom Italia and the joint venture Fastweb+Vodafone have agreed to share parts of their 5G radio access networks across Italy. The plan is to extend coverage to around 15,500 mobile sites, reaching about 60% of the country’s population.
By pooling infrastructure rather than building separate networks, the operators aim to speed up 5G rollout and cut costs, especially in areas where it would be expensive to deploy duplicate equipment. The deal focuses on sharing antennas and related radio gear, not the underlying companies or customer bases.
