Telecom Fiji will roll out Starlink-powered managed Wi-Fi in the rural provinces of Namosi and Lomaiviti under a new universal service obligation (USO) contract with the Telecommunications Authority of Fiji (TAF). The deal is aimed at extending internet access to communities that are hard to reach with traditional telecom infrastructure.
Using Starlink’s satellite network, Telecom Fiji plans to provide public Wi-Fi services in these areas, which often face patchy or non-existent connectivity. The project sits under Fiji’s USO framework, which requires operators to deliver basic telecom services to underserved regions, with TAF overseeing compliance.
