T-Mobile joins tech layoff wave with nearly 400 job cuts
T-Mobile plans to cut nearly 400 jobs across its US operations, according to a filing with the Washington State Employment Security Department. The move will affect more than 200 different roles, including analysts, engineers, technicians, managers and directors. Almost 210 of those losing their jobs hold senior or director-level positions, and seven are vice presidents or senior vice presidents. That group includes a senior vice president of talent and four vice presidents in legal affairs.
Staff were given 60 days’ notice, with the layoffs due to take effect on 2 April 2026. The cuts will hit the company’s Bellevue headquarters, data centres in Bellevue and East Wenatchee, and various retail and operational sites. In an emailed statement, T-Mobile said it was reshaping its workforce as “the next step” in its evolution, citing a “dynamic market” and saying it would continue hiring in other areas. The decision comes as major tech and telecoms firms including Amazon, Ericsson and Oracle have also announced job reductions.
