SoftBank delivers record revenue, maps telco strategy beyond traditional services
SoftBank reported record annual revenue of about ¥5.2 trillion (roughly $34.6 billion), an 8% increase year-on-year, with operating income rising to ¥884 billion (around $5.9 billion). Telecom remains its main growth engine. CEO Junichi Miyakawa pointed to standalone 5G, local 5G deployments, and AI-driven radio access networks (AI-RAN) as the next phase of the company’s network strategy.
The operator is signaling a move beyond traditional connectivity into more software- and AI-heavy services built on top of its mobile infrastructure. By investing in standalone 5G and localized 5G systems, SoftBank aims to support new enterprise uses while using AI-RAN to make its networks more efficient and adaptable.
