SmarTone upgrades its network with Ericsson 5G-A tech
SmarTone is upgrading its mobile network with Ericsson’s latest 5G-Advanced (5G-A) equipment, adding more automation and capacity to its existing 5G service. Under the deal, Ericsson will supply new radio gear, including Massive MIMO and triple-band radios, which are designed to handle more users and higher data traffic in dense urban areas.
The operator is adopting programmable 5G-A features that let it adjust network resources on the fly using automation, AI, and intent-based operations. In practice, that means SmarTone can allocate bandwidth and coverage more precisely across locations and services, improving performance while using its spectrum and hardware more efficiently.
