Saudi’s Neom megaproject review may focus on data centres
Saudi Arabia’s Neom megaproject is reportedly heading for a major scale-back, and telecoms players are watching closely. One option under review is to shift Neom’s role from a vast flagship city development to a more focused hub for data centres.
Such a redesign would align Neom with rising regional demand for cloud and hosting capacity, rather than the original, broader urban vision. For the telecoms sector, this would turn Neom into more of an infrastructure and connectivity play than a grand real-estate experiment, concentrating investment on data centre build-out and related network assets.
