Satellite IoT revenue to top $6B
Satellite-based internet of things (IoT) services are set for strong growth over the next five years, according to Research and Markets. The firm expects global satellite IoT revenue to rise from $2.4 billion in 2025 to $6.4 billion by 2030, with this year’s total forecast at $2.8 billion. That implies a compound annual growth rate of 22.3 per cent.
Demand from logistics, transport, agriculture and environmental monitoring is expected to drive much of the increase, along with growing use in maritime and aviation. The report notes that smaller, cheaper spacecraft such as nano and CubeSat-class satellites are expanding coverage and helping cut costs. It also cites the role of AI and analytics in making satellite IoT data more useful. Key players named in the Satellite IoT Market Global Report 2026 include Sateliot, Iridium Communications, Ligado Networks and Airbus, with service providers seeing particular opportunity around low-power, long-range IoT devices and smart city applications.
