Samsung takes a big step forward in 6G network development
Samsung says it has cleared a key technical hurdle on the road to 6G. The company, which also builds telecom network gear, worked with Korean operator KT Corporation to test so‑called eXtreme multiple‑input multiple‑output (X‑MIMO) technology in the 7 GHz band.
Using an ultra‑high‑density antenna system with four times more antenna elements than current gear, the test reached peak download speeds of about 3 Gbps. X‑MIMO is seen as a core building block for future 6G networks, which aim to move more data over mid‑band spectrum without needing far more base stations.
