Botswana and five other Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries have agreed to cut and align mobile roaming charges under the One Network Area (ONA) framework, according to the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA). Regulators say the move aims to make roaming prices more predictable and affordable across participating states.
The harmonised approach is intended to reduce the wide price differences subscribers currently face when they cross borders within the region. While full details of the new tariffs and implementation timelines were not disclosed, the participating countries describe this as a coordinated step toward a more integrated regional mobile market.
