Oura CEO aims to ring-in new era of health
Speaking at MWC26 in Barcelona, Oura CEO Tom Hale argued that smart rings can play a practical role in easing pressure on overstretched health systems. He said ring-based sensors collect more reliable data from fingers than watches do from wrists, giving earlier warnings about sleep issues, activity levels and other risk factors tied to chronic disease.
Hale positioned Oura and similar devices as long-term monitoring tools that use many signals, combined with AI, to predict problems rather than just report on past activity. He stressed that prevention through better daily habits could make many conditions more manageable or avoidable, and that technology should support, not replace, human clinicians by extending access to timely, quality care.
