OpenROADM touts multi-operator support
The Open ROADM Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) group is highlighting how its specifications now support multi-operator optical transport, including all-photonics networks and IP-over-WDM wave services from 25G to 800G. In a recent demonstration, the open source TransportPCE controller set up end-to-end services using OpenConfig 2.0 models, configuring devices linked via Open ROADM-based temporary tunnels.
The effort aims to show that operators can mix equipment from different vendors and still automate provisioning across their transport networks. By relying on open models and interfaces instead of proprietary control systems, Open ROADM and TransportPCE seek to give carriers more flexibility in how they design, scale and manage high-speed optical services.
