Libya has switched on 5G services in parts of its capital, Tripoli, through Almadar Aljadid, the country’s second-largest state-owned operator. Coverage is currently limited to central districts, with citywide and then nationwide expansion planned in stages.
Almadar Aljadid says the upgrade will improve service quality for customers and could support sectors such as healthcare and education. With Libya’s launch following 5G activations in Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria in 2025, all African states on the Mediterranean now have live 5G networks.
