MTN Congo taps 2Africa cable to strengthen network resilience

MTN Congo has linked its network to the 2Africa subsea cable system to improve international connectivity and cut the risk of major outages. The operator says the connection to the Meta-backed 2Africa system gives it additional capacity and alternative routes for data traffic, which should make cross-border services more stable and less vulnerable to single points of failure.
The move is part of MTN Congo’s wider push to harden its infrastructure after recent disruptions highlighted how dependent Central African networks are on a small number of subsea links. By diversifying how its traffic reaches the global internet, MTN Congo aims to keep services running even if other regional cables go down.
