Kigen eSIMs added to Robustel industrial 4G/5G edge routers
Robustel is building Kigen’s eSIM technology into its 4G/5G industrial edge routers and gateways, aiming to make it easier for customers to manage mobile connectivity across countries and networks. The deal covers Kigen’s eSIM operating system, eIM management platform and developer tools, including the Kigen C-SDK, which Robustel says helped it speed up eSIM integration. The upgrade applies across existing single- and dual-SIM router lines such as the R1510/1511, R2010/2011, R3000-Lite and R5020-Lite using plastic Kigen eSIMs, avoiding hardware redesign and extra compliance work.
The combined offer targets sectors where uptime and regulatory compliance matter, including utilities, transport, smart cities and industrial automation. Customers can load and switch between multiple operator profiles remotely, use Robustel’s smart roaming features with eSIMs, and avoid on-site SIM swaps when changing providers or tariffs. The companies pitch this as a way to cope with permanent roaming restrictions in markets like Brazil and Turkey, cut deployment and maintenance costs, and reduce the risk of service gaps if a mobile supplier fails or airtime is lost.
