India has joined global 6G standard-setting efforts for the first time, according to Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. He said India will now contribute to shaping the technical and policy rules that will govern the next generation of mobile networks.
Scindia linked this move to India’s wider digital push, saying that as the country expands internet access and prepares for 6G, telecom reforms must keep trust and user protection at the core. The government is positioning its role in standard-setting as a way to align future networks with domestic priorities on security, safety and consumer rights.
