FaceTime and Snapchat reportedly banned in Russia
Russian authorities have blocked Apple’s FaceTime video calling service and Snap’s Snapchat, according to Bloomberg. The move extends an ongoing crackdown on major Western platforms already restricted in the country, including Facebook, Instagram, and X.
Officials claim the apps were used to organize and conduct terrorist activity, recruit participants, and support other crimes such as fraud. The report also notes that Russia recently warned WhatsApp it could face a full ban over alleged legal violations, signaling more potential restrictions on foreign messaging and social apps.
