Cellular beats Wi-Fi in most US airports: Ookla report
If you are trying to get work done at a U.S. airport, your phone’s data plan is likely a better bet than the free Wi-Fi. Network testing firm Ookla reports that in most U.S. airports, cellular connections deliver faster speeds than the local Wi-Fi networks, in some cases offering up to twice the performance.
Among mobile operators, Verizon stands out. According to Ookla’s measurements, Verizon’s cellular service is faster than airport Wi-Fi in 34 airports, more than any other provider. The findings suggest that for many travelers, relying on mobile data may be more efficient than hunting for a Wi-Fi login screen.
