BT sells US federal unit as part of global infra retreat, service push
BT has sold BT Federal, its U.S. government contracting arm, to systems integrator 22nd Century Technologies. The deal hands over staff and offices tied to BT’s federal business, and continues BT’s broader withdrawal from owning international network infrastructure.
The sale is part of a wider shift inside BT International, which is moving away from physical network assets and toward a software-led, multi-cloud "Global Fabric" platform. BT is slimming down its global footprint to focus on higher-margin managed services rather than running far‑flung infrastructure.
