BSNL reaches nearly 100,000 4G sites in India
State-run operator BSNL has installed 97,068 4G mobile sites across India, with 93,511 already in service, according to recent government data. The rollout uses domestic equipment designed to be upgraded to 5G.
Telecom minister Pemmasani has said BSNL aims to switch on 5G services in Delhi and Mumbai by December 2025, using this 4G network as the base. The figures point to fast expansion of BSNL’s coverage while it prepares for a later move to 5G in major cities.
