Boldyn lines Silverstone with permanent 5G network
Silverstone Circuit has hired neutral host provider Boldyn Networks to build a permanent 5G network across the historic UK racetrack. The system is designed to support the venue’s 1.5 million annual visitors on race weekends, track days and conferences, making it easier to share and stream video and use mobile services when tens of thousands of people are on site.
Boldyn is installing infrastructure at 25 locations around the circuit, including 87 Distributed Antenna System zones and 57 high‑capacity sectors. The move should end Silverstone’s reliance on temporary networks for major events and give teams and broadcasters more reliable connectivity. Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle said dependable mobile service is now essential to the customer experience, while Boldyn’s UK and Ireland chief Brendan O’Reilly described the build as a step toward a more capable, long-term mobile network for the venue.
