Bharti Airtel, Google team up to combat spam on RCS platform
Bharti Airtel has partnered with Google to clamp down on spam and fraud on the Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging platform in India. Airtel said it will plug its own network intelligence and "telecom-grade safeguards" into RCS, adding another layer on top of Google’s existing spam filters.
The move aims to make business and consumer messaging on RCS more secure, as spam and phishing attempts increasingly shift from SMS to internet-based channels. By tying telecom data with platform-level protections, the companies say they want to improve detection of suspicious senders and reduce unsolicited and harmful messages for Airtel users on Android devices.
