AT&T completes Lumen fiber deal
AT&T has closed its $5.75 billion cash purchase of most of Lumen’s mass-market fiber business. The deal immediately adds about 1 million residential fiber customers and roughly 4 million fiber-ready locations to AT&T’s footprint.
By folding Lumen’s fiber assets into its own network, AT&T expands its reach in existing and new territories, aiming to sell more high-speed broadband to households. Lumen, in turn, exits much of the consumer fiber market and keeps its focus on business and enterprise services.
