AT&T, Cisco launch SA 5G IoT platform
AT&T and Cisco have expanded their existing partnership to launch an Internet of Things platform built on AT&T’s standalone 5G network and a suite of Cisco control and convergence products. The system is designed to give enterprises programmable network features such as network slicing and automated performance tuning, aiming to support low-latency, secure and reliable uses like connected vehicles, smart city infrastructure and digital healthcare.
The platform uses edge computing and Cisco’s converged core across multiple data centres to extend reach, potentially on a global scale. Customers get centralised tools for device and service lifecycle management, diagnostics and automation. AT&T and Cisco describe this step as a foundation for later adding AI-driven controls and real-time network adjustments.
