Astound launches fixed wireless to California communities
Astound has switched on a fixed wireless network in parts of Northern California, bringing new broadband options to more than 26,000 homes in Davis and across Yolo and Placer counties. The buildout includes coverage for over 2,000 homes in rural areas that previously had no access to high‑speed internet service.
The company is using fixed wireless to extend its reach beyond existing wireline routes, targeting communities that have been underserved by traditional broadband infrastructure. Astound framed the project as a way to close local connectivity gaps, particularly in outlying pockets of the region.
