ASML seeks agility with 1,700 job cuts
ASML plans to cut about 1,700 jobs, largely in the Netherlands and some in the US, targeting mainly leadership roles in its technology and IT teams. The move affects roughly 4 per cent of its workforce.
The restructuring comes as the chipmaking equipment supplier posts strong results, forecasting 2026 net sales between €34 billion and €39 billion, up from €32.7 billion last year. CEO Christophe Fouquet said the company grew in ways that made work slower and less flexible, with engineers complaining about heavy processes getting in the way of actual engineering. Alongside the cuts, ASML will add roles in manufacturing, customer support and sales to meet demand for new machines and service work.
