Airtel working with Google to launch RCS: report
Bharti Airtel is working with Google to roll out Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging in India, according to a report. The operator plans to use Google’s platform for the upgrade, which would add features like richer media and chat-style messaging to standard SMS.
Airtel is reportedly holding back the launch until it can put stronger anti-spam controls in place. Once live, the move would make Airtel the last of India’s private mobile operators to adopt RCS messaging.
